Cecil Court

A new dust jacket for London’s famous Booksellers’ Row.

– Cecil Court, London, WC2.
– Phase 1
– Value: £500,000

Cecil Court is a unique and quirky street in the heart of London’s theatreland, famous for its line-up of antiquarian bookshops, art galleries and assortment of curious emporiums. Its nickname is Booksellers’ Row to those in the know. It has a rich and wonderful history and was once home to the eight-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when he lodged in London whilst performing for King George III.

We were tasked with the careful restoration of this beautiful area - a logistically difficult major works project which involved the replacement of glazed brickworks, Portland Stone, which was hand carved on site and the redecoration of all the shop fronts in their period finery including the hand signwriting of their individual names. The result is that Cecil Court has recaptured its original magic without losing any of its old-fashioned charm.

“Rosewood have acted as a Principal Contractor for us for many years and continue to do so. We are always pleased with Rosewood’s approach to each project and the care they provide to the smallest of details. Employing many of their own tradesmen provides a personal touch to each project which often sets Rosewood apart. I have no hesitation recommending Rosewood for specialist heritage, masonry and external façade works.”
