The Lancasters

The major restoration of the largest façade development project in the UK.

– The Lancasters, London W2.
– Value: Undisclosed

The original Grade II listed structure of The Lancasters comprised a terrace of 15 French renaissance style ambassadorial residences built between 1856 and 1865. The project demonstrates our ability to work on large scale projects. In fact, it is the largest stucco restoration project of a single residential block in the UK.

We were engaged to provide a range of unique services that started with the specialist media clean and stripping of lead-based paints with encapsulation, negative air pressure and waste away. This was highly skilled and delicate work, especially around the detail of the lion heads, fluted pilasters and Corinthian columns.

From there, we structurally re-built the inner brickwork skin of the retained façade including new brick and lime arches before installing over 1,500 Halfen ties to connect the original façade and the new concrete frame. We then hand restored and re-ran in lime render the entire stucco façade to match the original Victorian build.

Finally, we completed the restoration with a KEIM mineral based paint, spray applied for the finest of finishes.

“Rosewood’s expertise and care in restoring historic and listed buildings is second to none and their proactive interaction with our leaseholders, tenants and retailers is extremely important when completing major works. I find their approach to be professional at all times, and the quality of work to the highest of standards.”
