St Mary Magdalen, Mortlake

From ornate stonework to the subtle craft of stained glass.

– St Mary Magdalen, Mortlake, London
– Phase 1
– Value: £120,000

Our in-house team of crafts people were the perfect choice for the restoration of St Mary Magdalen, a Grade II listed church in Mortlake, London. The project included the dismantling and rebuilding of a Bath Stone tracery. This involved the hand carving of new Bath Stone elements to replace some areas of the tracery that had failed. We also removed, overhauled and where necessary, replaced failed stained glass to fully restore the tracery. Finally, we removed and replaced four Bath Stone and Kentish Ragstone buttresses to complete this labour of craft and love.

We also conducted further surveys and produced a condition report for the Sir Richard Burton mausoleum.

“I have known Rosewood for more than 23 years and during that time completed external restoration contracts up to the value of £1.5m. The numerous contracts have been dealt with efficiently, executed to a high standard, within budget and in line with the contract programme. I would have no hesitation recommending Rosewood for specialist masonry and external façade works.”
